Application Information
The goal of the hiring process is to identify the most qualified applicant for the available position. Desirable attributes vary with each position and job description. Standardized testing is one way to identify specific qualities, skills, and abilities that match the position and increase the likelihood that the individual will perform effectively.

When a vacancy occurs, the position is reviewed by the unit administrator for changes. The director gives approval or denial to post the vacancy. HR updates the position description and the position is posted for 7 working days internally.

Current staff members may request an application from the HR office, if interested in a posted position. The HR administrator will screen applications for minimum qualifications. If an internal applicant is chosen to fill the position they must be moved into their new position within 30 workdays per the CBA. A probationary period is established, depending on position.

If the position is not filled in-house, an advertisement is run, and HR requests resumes. Resumes are kept for one year, filed by month received. Any one interested may send a resume to the attention of HR Administrator, Huron County Department of Job & Family Services, 185 Shady Lane Drive, Norwalk, OH 44857. Resumes are screened for minimum qualifications and forwarded to the administrator when a vacancy is not filled with internal applicants.

A pre-hire drug screen, TB test as well as fingerprinting and background checks are completed on all new hires.
