Family Support Services Overview

Huron County Department of Job & Family Services strives to provide programs to strengthen families, protect children, and the elderly. An important component in supporting independent families is to promote self-sufficiency as a way of life. Support services such as assistance with buying food, limited financial aid, getting adequate health care coverage, and child care are all supportive measures to help families in their pursuit of success.

Adult Protective Services:
Adult protective services are provided to the elderly who are in danger of harm, unable to protect themselves, and have no one else to assist them. We are mandated to investigate and evaluate all reports of suspected abuse, neglect or exploitation of adults age 60 and over.

Child Care Program:
Did you know that child care costs are the second highest monthly costs to families? This expense often makes it difficult for families to enter the work force or to remain in the work force. Now, there is a service available to meet this need. The Huron County Department of Job and Family Services' Child Care Program provides partial payment to child care providers for families who meet certain eligibility guidelines.
